| Hispanic students have the highest dropout rate of any other group in the country—more than 27 percent.
Stakeholders need a sound grasp of the full range of cultural, linguistic, and social knowledge Hispanic/Latino-American families must have in order to survive.
Formal assessments and questionnaires pertaining to the basic reading, writing, oral comprehension, and speaking skills should not be used as the sole information to evaluate Hispanic/Latino-American performance.
Poor knowledge of English was recognized by family members as a significant impediment to obtaining employment.
Although Hispanic/Latino-American students constitute the majority of students at a certain school, parent meetings are conducted in English resulting in limited input and reaction from parents who are dominant in Spanish.
