Apryl Freeman


Apryl knows how to take a vision and make it a reality through sound strategy development. Her skills have earned her a seat at the table wherever she serves. She has over 15 years of service in the education field, serving as a classroom teacher, Literacy Coach, and Instructional Facilitator on the district level with Broward County Public Schools.  Apryl believes in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure all students get the education they deserve. Apryl currently serves as the Assistant Director of TRIO Upward Bound for Broward College and resides in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Along with serving on the Florida ASCD Board she also sits on the City of Lauderhill’s Educational Advisory Board and volunteers within her community to help promote social justice.  She is a proud alumna of Florida A&M University where she majored in Elementary Education. Apryl is active in the FAMU National Alumni Association and serves as the Florida Region Corresponding Secretary. She believes in continuous growth within her profession and is a graduate of Leadership Florida’s Education Class IV.  Apryl recently started FreeWil Equity and Development Services, LLC to help inform and train educational leaders, teachers, future educators, and community stakeholders on educational equity and culturally responsive teaching.
