Wendy Swanson

Board Member

Wendy Swanson has over 25 years of experience in education and is a lifelong learner who continues as a scholar-practitioner today. She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from the American College of Education. Her dissertation focuses on distributed leadership practices to improve STEM project-based learning opportunities for elementary students. 

 

Wendy has teaching and leadership experience in different types of educational settings. She began her career serving students and families in Title I schools by teaching several grade levels in elementary school. Over time, Wendy held resource teacher positions, including Reading Recovery teacher, Science and Technology teacher, and Tech Ambassador trainer, before moving into leadership roles. Wendy has had diverse experiences in leadership positions throughout her career, such as Reading Coach, School-based Team Leader, and Learning Team Facilitator. She also worked in a wide variety of schools, providing professional development support as a Literacy Specialist for the Palm Beach County School District. Now, she works in one of the largest urban independent schools in Florida.

 

Currently, Wendy is in her eighth year as an administrator at Pine Crest School. Beginning as the Lower School Assistant Head with a focus on academics and instruction, she transitioned to the role of Associate Director of Educational Design. Wendy brings a wealth of curriculum and instruction knowledge and educational technology experience to this position to work collaboratively across divisions to advance the academic programs within the school. Using the school's mission and strategic initiatives as a guide, along with a personal passion for STEM education, she supports the Computer Science and Technology Specialists, Librarians, and Robotics Coaches in designing and developing curricular experiences for Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 students.
